‘resist the Devil, and he will flee from you’

An increase in the incidence of political accusations by the masses in Nigeria tends to indicate both an increase of social instability and insecurity, as well as our inability to freely educate our minds and express political dissent within the framework of the nation. The wrong connection between material and political power and the world of the so call foolish assumption of ‘satanic’ agents is unreasonable; majority believe that ‘big men’, be they chiefs, businessmen, ministers, or politicians, have come by their power through connections with evil spiritual forces, and use this power to oppress people. The fact is that they have seen beyond ordinary men, educated their mind, with or without belonging to esteem societies of light, such as the Reformed Ogboni Fraternity, or freemasonry, DeNorsemen. The fact is that most political aspirants and members of the ruling elite in Nigeria are believed to consult oracles, or belong to secret ‘mafias’ to governor the country. However, we should believe otherwise with the recent happening in the country. The form in which most Nigeria present these testimonies demonstrates the process of conceptual disconstruction going on in an attempt to domesticate what they think is wrong, without any effort to vanquish the wrong perceived spiritual plane of this constructive forces. After all- ‘resist the Devil, and he will flee from you’ (James 4:7). Now the question is who the devil is, and who is to resist who?

Religion in Nigeria is doubted involved in disconstruction of the country, on an individual level, people have neglected  the act of becoming real and true men of integrity, both as an act of faith, accept and promote a fraternal set of multi-faceted concepts about the nature of the world and the people, develop intellectual and symbolic construction of the country through new practices and approaches, in which the individual sees her/himself as expressing a new relation to society and to history. We should see, in a proper perspective that the level of the family, of sexuality, of the economy, individuals are created with new relations of power, new bases of solidarity, new and different opportunities for survival. We should also see that this is experienced to liberate and empower personal rebirth, and that a new spiritual power be possessed that cannot be disassociated from the ‘practical’ power to transform our social and economic world.
