When I was very young, my grandfather had two wives, quite a few children and he was very poor. So whenever it is time for school fees he will enter into quarrel with his wives so nobody will be able to come and ask for school fees but my grandmother always got my school fees from him. She will come early in the morning, kneel down and begin to praise my grandfather: You are the son of so-and-so! You are the son of so-and-so, when your grandfather went to war he killed, he captured, when your grandfather threw a feast he invited civilians, he invited soldiers! The birds flew for days and never saw the end of your grandfather’s farm! And my grandfather will begin to swell, he will begin to swell and my grandmother would continue and very soon my grandfather will begin to say: It will be well with you, it will be well with your children in this house. You will prosper. My grandmother will continue! Finally my grandfather will say – what can I do for you today? It is my grandfather who asks what do you want?

consider all that you have gone through – anybody who is at least 40 years old, consider all that you have gone through. Think of the time when you were a child before education changed things. When they want to feed you in those days, there’s no feeding bottle. They lay you on your side and they begin to pout food in your mouth – you are eating sleeping and if you don’t want to take the food they block your nose! You are supposed to eat when you can’t breathe? When you have fever and you are hot, the time when they should be pouring cold water on you, mama will put you at the back and wrap thick cloth round you so you can get hotter still! When they give you all these concoctions they make, there is no measurement, no dosage and you survive all that and you are still alive today. There is hope.
